National Press Time Bureau Jhunjhunu. The Child Rights Department and District Child Protection Unit are running a public awareness campaign against child labor across the district. The team of Child Helpline 1098 played an important role in this campaign organized under the leadership of Assistant Director Arvind Ola. Under the campaign, children in the State Protection and Juvenile Home were informed about their fundamental rights, importance of education and safe childhood. On this occasion, Project Coordinator Mahesh Manju and Counselor Arvind Kumar highlighted the ill effects of child labor. The team later visited major commercial establishments of the city like Shri Om Jodhpur Sweet Home, Mahadev Mishthan Bhandar, Dhaba, Sweet Shops etc. and informed about the Child Labor Prohibition Act 1986 and Juvenile Justice Act 2015. The establishment operators were requested not to employ children below 14 years of age and take a pledge to have a child labor free establishment. The importance of Child Helpline 1098 was also explained, which is a free and confidential service for helping children in distress. The general public was appealed to immediately report incidents of child labour or child abuse if they see them. Assistant Director Ola said that elimination of child labour is not possible only through government efforts but the entire society will have to become aware and responsible in this direction.
